Overview
RABAI is an Orthodox Jewish assistant that helps users with zmanim, Shabbos times, reminders, Siddur access, Jewish calendar information, Torah source learning, tefillin tracking, directory listings, and related community tools.
This Privacy Policy explains what information RABAI collects, how we use it, and the choices users have. We aim to collect only what is needed to provide the service, protect user trust, improve reliability, and support the frum community responsibly.
Information We Collect
Depending on how you use RABAI, we may collect:
- Account information: name, email address, login status, account role, plan, and basic profile settings.
- Location settings: city, community, saved location, timezone, and, if you choose, precise device location for zmanim, reminders, and nearby services.
- RABAI questions and answers: questions submitted to RABAI, answer metadata, source links, error reports, and audit information used to improve answer quality.
- Reminder information: reminder title, timing, event anchors such as candle lighting or havdalah, delivery channel, status, and completion data.
- SMS, WhatsApp, email, and call information: phone number, message consent status, opt-in and opt-out records, delivery status, and message logs needed to provide requested communications.
- Tefillin Tracker information: tefillin-day logs, streaks, settings, badges, health incidents, and reminder preferences when you use the tracker.
- Directory and intake information: listing submissions, business or shul details, contact information, approval status, and field notes submitted by authorized users.
- Technical and usage information: browser type, device type, page views, feature usage, response times, errors, and reliability metrics.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide RABAI features, including zmanim, reminders, Siddur, calendar, tefillin tracking, directory search, and Torah source routing.
- Personalize results based on your saved settings, location, timezone, nusach, Shabbos settings, and communication preferences.
- Send reminders, account messages, opt-in communications, and service-related notifications.
- Improve RABAI's accuracy, audit wrong answers, detect missing sources, repair safe routing mistakes, and prevent repeated bugs.
- Protect the service from abuse, debug errors, maintain security, and comply with legal and carrier requirements.
- Respond to support requests and user-reported issues.
SMS Communications
If you choose to connect SMS to your R.A.B.A.I account, R.A.B.A.I may collect and store your mobile phone number, SMS opt-in status, SMS opt-out status, message delivery status, and related messaging logs.
R.A.B.A.I uses SMS to send account verification codes, user-requested reminders, tefillin tracker messages, zmanim/calendar replies, and replies to messages you send to R.A.B.A.I.
R.A.B.A.I does not sell mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in data, or SMS consent data.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.
Message frequency varies based on your account settings, reminders, and messages you send to R.A.B.A.I. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe from SMS messages or HELP for help.
SMS consent is not required to use the R.A.B.A.I website or app.
Messaging providers: R.A.B.A.I may use trusted service providers, including Twilio, to deliver SMS messages, process opt-outs, maintain consent records, and protect messaging reliability. These providers may process information only as needed to provide the messaging service.
Jewish and Religious Use Data
RABAI understands that questions about Torah, halacha, tefillah, reminders, tefillin, Shabbos, and family routines may be personal. We treat this information as sensitive service data and use it only to provide RABAI, improve reliability, support user-requested features, and protect the quality of the platform.
RABAI is not a replacement for a Rav or posek. For practical halacha, RABAI may provide source information and should direct users to ask their Rav for personal psak.
Your Choices
- You may update account settings, location settings, reminder settings, tefillin settings, and communication preferences inside RABAI where available.
- You may decline precise location and use a saved city or community instead.
- You may opt out of SMS by replying STOP and request help by replying HELP.
- You may request account support, correction, or deletion by contacting us.
- You may report incorrect or concerning answers using RABAI's issue reporting tools.
Security and Retention
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect user information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but RABAI is built to limit access, avoid unnecessary exposure, and keep sensitive operational information inside protected admin tools.
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain account records, comply with legal or carrier requirements, resolve disputes, improve reliability, and prevent repeated errors. We may retain anonymized or aggregated metrics that do not identify individual users.
Children and Youth Features
RABAI may include youth-friendly features, such as Bar Mitzvah or tefillin practice tools. These features are intended to be used with parent, guardian, school, rebbi, or family oversight where appropriate. RABAI does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate consent. If you believe a child provided personal information without consent, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as RABAI grows, including as SMS, WhatsApp, voice, app, school, shul, directory, and beta features expand. The updated date at the top will show when the policy was last changed.
